The SCV Wine Classic
Coming May 2009
The 22nd annual SCV Wine Classic
will be held at California Institute of the Arts, in Valencia, on Saturday night, May 30, from 7 to 10 p.m. People who purchase tickets in advance will avoid long lines.
It's an amazing event, enjoyed each year by approximately 500 wine enthusiasts from all over Southern California. People sample hundreds of current wines poured by approximately 50 wineries, distributors and local wine stores, and dozens of rare, old, library wines, foods from two dozen local restaurants and caterers, and more. We attract several upscale wineries who rarely attend such events. There is live music, a raffle of rare and outstanding wines, as well as a silent auction of current and older wines, travel, artwork, and more.
There is much more information on the SCV Wine Classic website, www.scvwineclassic.org. The event is the principal fund-raiser for the Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra, a multi-tiered instrumental educational program providing a positive, creative outlet for hundreds of youngsters. Over the past 15 years, the Youth Orchestra has given almost 150 performances and has been responsible for musically educating almost 3,700 young musicians. We raised $25,000 at last year's event, and we would love to double the amount, this May.
Ticket prices:From March 28 to May 29, $70 each/$135 a pair; at the door, $80 each/ $155 a pair Group tickets (10 or more), $60 each Designated driver, $35 each Tickets for people who want to enjoy the event but not sample alcoholic beverages, $35 each
Tickets are available by phone from the Foundation Office by phoning, 661-362-3737. Tickets are also available via the website: www.scvwineclassic.org. Credit cards are accepted. It's a fabulous event, for a very worthy cause. The only complaints are that it only lasts 3 hours, and is held only once a year.
