Grappa
What is it?

Grappa is made from the discarded grape, grape seed and stems left over from the wine making process. Italians consider it an after dinner drink and is used to help in digestion after eating a heavy meal. Added to espresso coffee it is called a Café' Corretto"corrected coffee." A coffee can be corrected by adding a shot. You can even add any other type Italian liquor, Brandy...

Some of the more popular types are produced by Nardini, Francoli, Banfi, Jacopo Poli, Inga and Poggio Basso.

Bassano Grappa This Italian Brandy varies from the grape type in which it is made. When young, it will appear clear in color where as aged, will have a yellow brown red hue.

The alcohol content can range from 38 to 80 percent which is 75 to 160 proof.

I have had this bottle of Nardini Riserva (Aquavite di pura vinaccia) which I purchased from San Antonio Winery about 8 years ago and have enjoyed sharing it with family and friends over the years. I must say, a bottle can last for quite awhile.
